Continuity

A definiton of Continuity from the Web http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Continuity_editing

A definition Of conuituity in my opinion is a system of cutting used to maintain continuous and clear narrative action by following a set of rules.

A definition of the 180 degree rule from wikipedia, the first paragraph is the main definition http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/180-degree_rule

My definition of the 180 degree rule is the angle between any two consecutive shots should not exceed 180 degrees for example, if I were to film two people from the side so one sitting on the left and one on the right, throughout the whole shot/scene they would have to stay in that frame in the camera other wise the rule is broken.

This link shows a definiton of the phrase 'Shot reverse Shot' http://www.artoftheguillotine.com/index.php?page=shotreverseshot

My definition of a shot reverse shot is two shots edited together that alternate charcters, typically in a conversation situation. The picture below is an example of what a shot reverse shot looks like.

I have found a definition of the term 'Match on action' from the web http://www.slideshare.net/leviwigglesworth/shot-reverse-shot-and-match-on-action-media

My definition of it is a cut between two shots that places two different framings of the same action next to each other, making it seem to continue uninterrupted.
